If you’re interested in learning more about the ingratitude angle to depression, I recommend picking up a copy of my latest book, Causes and Cures of Depression. (If you click the link you’ll go straight through to Amazon, and as a bonus, I’ve dropped the price on the eBook to just $2.99, so it’s really a bargain buy right now. See, another reason to be grateful right there. J)
When people get depressed, they fall into an energy state called ‘Homolateral’, which you can read more about HERE.
You can find the following energy exercise in Causes and Cures of Depression, and it can jolt you out of the 'sad, negative and ungrateful' energetic state of being (that's also called 'Homolateral'), and pull you into a much happier, and more grateful state of mind, body-first.
NB: Try to do this exercise 2-3 times a day. You should start to feel your mood improve significantly within 40 days of doing this exercise consistently.
The 'How to get out of Homolateral' exercise
1) Sit on your couch.
2) Touch the same elbow to the same knee (alternating sides) 12 times.
3) Then touch the opposite elbow to the opposite knee (alternating sides) 12 times.
4) Do both sets another two times, ending with alternate sides.
Remember, these exercises are NOT about feeling the burn; they're about getting the energy to start crossing over again.
If you're ill, or feeling very weak, you can take them as slowly as you need to, and they will still do the job.
If you've been very Homolateral, or very down and depressed, or ill for a while, you'll need to do these exercises twice a day for at least six weeks, before the improvements really start to hold for any length of time.
But with God's help, the improvements will come, and they will stay.
Once you have more energy again, you can keep it crossing over by trying the following activities:
- In-line skating
- Playing with poi balls
Any physical activity that encourages you to use opposing arms and legs will help to keep your energy crossing over.
In the next post, I’ll post up an infographic for Deeper Need 2, that will help you work out if the energy in this area is weak, and needs some work.
As always, I’d love your feedback. Feel free to leave a message or email me.
